International Kabaddi player Pamma was shot
Barnala: Barnala police have arrested all the four accused involved in the murder of head constable Darshan Singh after an encounter, one of the accused Paramjit Singh Pamma opened fire on the police and Pamma was shot in retaliation. He has been admitted to the Civil Hospital. 1 pistol and 2 cartridges have been recovered from the accused. All four accused are said to be Kabaddi players. DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav has given this information through tweet.
It is to be noted that three of these four accused Jugraj Singh Raja, Gurmeet Singh Nambardar and Wajir Singh were arrested on Monday while the fourth accused International Kabaddi player Paramjit Singh Pamma was arrested during a police encounter on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, Pamme was also hit by a bullet due to which he has been admitted to the Civil Hospital.

According to DSP Barnala Satveer Singh Bains, four youths had an argument with the shopkeeper at the Patiala Chicken Corner in 25 acres area of Barnala late on Sunday night. They also ransacked the shop. The shopkeeper called and informed the police, then the PCR team reached the spot first. After this, Head Constable Darshan Singh and other police personnel from Police Station City One also reached the spot. The police tried to explain to both parties. But the youth tangled with the police.
Meanwhile, Paramjit Singh Pamma, a resident of village Lakhariwala, attacked the head constable with punches. This caused deep injuries on his head and forehead and he fell unconscious. When the rest of the police personnel started handling him, the four assailants escaped. The injured Hauldar was taken to the Civil Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
According to the owner of Sidhu tea stall, an eyewitness to the incident, the kabaddi players who killed the police officer attacked 7-8 police accused. He had drunk alcohol. There, after the post-mortem, the family cremated Hauldar Darshan Singh with official honours.
The CM announced to give two crore rupees to the family
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann shared his grief with the family of Head Constable Darshan Singh by posting on X. Along with this, he has announced that the Punjab government will provide one crore rupees to Darshan Singh’s family. Apart from this, one crore rupees will also be given by HDFC Bank.
